Mumbai Champs Defeated By Bengal Tigers
A moment of glory flew in the air for Royal Bengal Tigers, when in the Indian Cricket League match held at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday; they defeated Mumbai Champs with 12 runs.
Skipper Craig McMillan from Bengal Tiger, won the toss and the team opted to bat first. Following this they had a great start as Hamish Marshall and Deep Dasgupta shared an 84-run partnership in 9.5 overs.
Mumbai Champs had set a target of 171 but were unable to achieve it. Taufeeq Umar was not able to keep up to his performance, when he found it quite hard to play on balls of A.N. Ahmed. Prior to this, Umar survived a referral for a caught-behind off the first ball. Though referral was opted by Umar, yet there was no escaping the walk back to the pavilion.
Nathan Astle (33), well known skipper; walked in at zero for one and tried hard in the company of Dheeraj Jadhav. Sujay Tarafdar was slammed by Astle for six, who mde 55-run-second-wicket partnership with Jadhav(39).
But after this, the stand of Mumbai Champs was disrupted since Astle could maintain his performance and moreover Hasan Raja and Kiran Powar. Astle was knocked down by Marshall. Even the good performances by Johannes van der Wath (35) and Subhojit Paul (32) could not help Mumbai Champs, which was all out with 158 runs in 19.5 overs.
