Mulford welcomes Pakistan’s response on Mumbai attacks

David C MulfordNew Delhi, Feb 13, : United States Ambassador to India David C. Mulford on Friday welcomed Pakistan's admission that some part of the conspiracy on the Mumbai attacks was hatched on its soil, and described it as "an important step in the right direction" by Islamabad.

Mulford told media persons here that the US will watch ensure that Pakistan completes the investigation and prosecution in the case.

"I think it is very upward looking, important first step in the right direction. We will all wait and watch and help to ensure that they do go forward and complete their investigation and prosecution," he said.

Mulford was addressing the media on the sidelines of a FICCI.

Appreciating India's reaction to Pakistan's probe Mulford said, "The Indian dossier was an example of the growing cooperation in counter-terrorism between the US and India."

He also asked for India's help on economy crisis and said, "US and the whole world is going through a very tough time. We need India's help at the time of crisis."

Mulford also appealed for global cooperation to fight terrorism.

"US remains firmly committed against mindless and unjustified terror attacks which is cross border in Asia. It can''t be tackled unless there is global cooperation," he said. (ANI)
