The computer hardware manufacturer – MSI (Micro-Star International) uncovered its two new energy saving graphics cards – N9800GT-MD1G and N9800GT-MD512 – on Friday. The two energy saving, green graphics cards are specifically designed for consumers who look for performance as well as energy-conservation.

The two cards come equipped with the latest generation of capacitors of MSI – Hi-c CAP to provide power to the GPU. The Hi-c CAP is a tantalum solid capacitor; tantalum reduces the chances of power leakage. The cards feature solid state chokes (SSC) for better, more stable overclocking. The advanced SSC can handle 30 percent higher electric currents. The SSC reduces the high-frequency buzz noise usually caused by traditional choke while operating under high electrical currents.       

The cards do not require for the additional 6-pin power, which saves electricity, makes the cards convenient-to-use, and enhances compatibility with many older SMPS models. The cards sports output ports including DVI, D-sub ports (VGA) and HMDI, for connecting to LCD TV.

The two cards, incorporating NVIDIA’s sophisticated GeForce 9800GT GPU, use the processor’s enhanced power control technology to reduce the power consumption by about 25 percent. The cards run at 550MHz and memory runs at 1.8GHz equivalent speed.  The N9800GT-MD1G has 1GB of GDDR3 memory, while the N9800GT-MD512 has 512MB of GDDR3 memory. MSI did not reveal the details about the price and availability of the two cards.
