Moose spotted around Western Nebraska
According to reports, a moose was seen wandering around western Nebraska. The rare sighting of the animal was reported by people living near the North Platte River Valley along the Nebraska Panhandle.
While confirming the accounts of the locals, officials of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission stated that the moose was seen roaming around the area by a number of people for the past few weeks. According to the officials, the latest recorded sighting of the moose was in Morrill County in Nebraska.
What makes the moose sighting in the area rare is that moose typically prefer habitats with cooler climate.
Wildlife experts said that sightings of the animal are really surprising as moose are not part of the local game in Nebraska Panhandle, an area in the western part of the state of Nebraska. According to them, the moose that was seen by a number of people in the area has possibly wandered into the river valley from the neighboring state of Wyoming.
Some people suggested that the animal, which is the largest extant species in the deer family, could have gotten lost while searching for food or the animal could have been forced out of its habitat by other moose.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission have launched a search for the animal to make sure the safety of residents. The commission has advised people to keep a distance from the animal. According to officials, moose are usually calm animal but they quickly become aggressive.
About seven years ago, a similar sighting was reported in the Wild Cat Hills. That time, a bull moose was seen wandering for some days along the North Platte River and Scottsbluff. According to experts, moose usually go where there is much to eat. The animal could be found near boreal.
