Mohammad Asif hopeful of recovering in time for Tests against India

Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad AsifLahore, Nov 14 : Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Asif is hopeful of regaining fitness for the away Test series against India, beginning November 22.

"I do not rule myself out of the entire series against India because I am improving under the able guidance of the PCB doctor at the National Cricket Academy and doing my training regularly, " said Asif, who is suffering from a nagging elbow injury.

Asif, who will turn 25 in December, is likely to go to Australia for medical advice on the nature of his elbow injury, the Dawn reported.

"The PCB is trying to get an appointment with a medical expert in Australia and hopefully it will be some time in next week, " he said.

"I have been advised a four-week rest now, but after my visit to consult the specialist, I will hopefully be available for the team in India, " Asif hoped.

If Asif fails to regain match fitness ahead of the three-match Test series, fast bowler Mohammad Sami is likely to join Pakistan team in his place.

The series begins on November 22 in Delhi. Second Test will be played in Kolkata from November 30, while Bangalore will host the third and final match December 8 to 12. (ANI)
