Modi worships weapons on ‘Dussehra’
Ahmedabad, Oct 9 : Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today relives India’s ancient tradition of worshiping weapons on ''Dussehra'' day in Ahmedabad sending out a message to the nation to join hands against terrorism.
After performing a traditional ritual of offering prayers to weapons, Modi declared war against terrorism as Gujarat is one of states hit by the recent spate of terror attacks in the country.
Modi urged people to interpret the festival of Dussehra (Dasa-Hara- which means the slaying of the ten heads of Ravana) to kill the demons of the society.
“It is our responsibility to kill the demons sitting within us. The need to kill the demon within is the responsibility of the individual, killing the demons in the society is the responsibility of the society and killing the demons in the country is the responsibility of the nation,” said Modi.
“All of us should join hands to fight against those who along with foreign hands are joining hands with the militants. Today on ''Vijay Dashmi (Victory Day) let us fight terrorism," Modi added.
Recently, there have been terror attacks in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, New Delhi and in Tripura.
Dussehra is the celebration of the spirit of goodness with the burning of effigies of Ravana, the demon king and his kin, with much fanfare marking the victory of good over evil.
It is also a day to worship weapons, the tradition going back to Mahabharat, one of India''s two great epics. (ANI)
