Microsoft to share Windows ‘Threshold’ plans at Build 2014 conference
Redmond-based software giant Microsoft's next major Windows version, which will most-probably be called Windows 9, will be out by April 2015, some emerging reports suggest.
On January 11, Windows SuperSite's Paul Thurrott reported that Microsoft would likely release `Threshold' in spring 2015. If Microsoft sticks to schedule, new software should come out around April 2015.
It may be noted here that many analysts believe that Threshold would be an update to Windows 8 operating system, while many now assume that the codename refers to the software giant's next major Windows version - Windows
9.
Thurrott also reported that Microsoft would reveal its Threshold plans at a "vision" level at its Build conference, which is scheduled to take place in San Francisco in April this year.
The actual release of Windows 9 is expected to take place in a three-milestone manner. It means there will be a minimum of two-three versions of new software released before it become fully available to the public.
Reports also suggest that developers would not be given any type of early build of software at the BUILD conference as development would not start in earnest until the end of the same month.
