Microsoft Releases Open Document Format Support DetailsOffice 2007 Service Pack 2 by computer giant, Microsoft would hit the market next year. The company released its detail on Tuesday. The product is aimed to implement ODF in Office besides XML support. It would remove complexity in formatting by redefining set margin and text formatting.

Microsoft doesn't have default ODF support in Office 2007 but it would support it in the forthcoming version.

The company has launched a website to describe implementation of Microsoft's Open XML but its full detail would be available in a couple of days. Microsoft will release a special guide for implementation of the pre-cursor to the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) standard for Open XML in Office 2007 (ECMA 376).

The company said in a release, "File format standards typically allow additional application-specific information (such as certain user customizations) to be written to file. By providing this information vendors allow developers to correctly interpret the additional data."

Senior director of platform strategy in Microsoft, Robert W Duffner said that the new version includes a viewer that would allow OOXML-based Microsoft Office documents visibility through a web browser like Fire fox or Open Office desktop. Notably, Microsoft had launched a viewer and translator before a month which is designed to improve interoperability between OOXML documents and applications such as Open Office and Firefox.
