Microsoft might announce tablet in association with Barnes and Nobles
Software giant, Microsoft might be planning to launch a new table computer in association with Barnes and Nobles. The software giant might be planning to announce a new project to develop its own tablet computer during an event on Monday.
The company has not confirmed reports but it has scheduled an event Monday in Los Angeles, where it has promised a "major" announcement. The company reportedly believes that producing the hardware as well and developing software for a device will allow it to compete better with rivals like Apple.
The tablet might run Microsoft's own Windows operating system. The company has earlier planed to maintain a presence in the tablet market through traditional hardware partners. Microsoft has lost ground to rival Apple and the new tablet might allow the company to compete better with its own hardware and software.
Some reports circulating have suggested that Microsoft has chosen Barnes and Nobles as partner for its new tablet project. Two companies had announced a partnership in April, under which Microsoft was to invest $300 million into a new Barnes and Nobles unit aimed at the Nook and Barnes and Nobles had agreed to include Windows 8 into the Nook Digital Book Store.
