Miandad to visit China as cricket ambassador
Islamabad, feb 12 : Former Pakistan cricket captain Javed Miandad will tour China as a cricket ambassador next month, an official of the sports ministry said on Thursday.
Miandad believes China had the potential to be a cricket power. He will tour the country from March 9 to 15.
"I have no doubt that they could excel in the field of cricket, like they did in other sports," he said.
Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari, who is also patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, appointed Miandad as cricket ambassador to China in December last year.
Miandad, who played 124 Tests and scored a Pakistan record of 8,832 runs with 23 centuries, quit as director general of the PCB last month, unhappy with the terms of the offered contract. (ANI)
