Miami Beach installs 50 Sunscreen Dispensers at Different Public Pools, Parks and beach access points

Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales said public safety is their priority therefore, they are offering the facility in which they have installed 50 sunscreen dispensers at different public pools, parks and beach entry points. "As the fun and sun capital of the world, people engage in the many outdoor activities available from relaxing at the beach to playing on our courts and doing so unprotected can lead to sunburns, which is a major cause of skin cancer", affirmed Morales.

The free sunscreen is part of Miami's official sun care line, called MB Miami Beach Suncare. The product used in the dispensers will be Triple Action Sea Kelp sunscreen having SPF 30. It protects against UVA and UVB rats and is also water-resistant for 80 minutes.

Last year, Miami partnered with Destination Brands to release the official Miami Beach's signature suncare line. Officials said that Mount Sinai Medical Center invested $25,000 to support the effort and fund the dispensers.

Dr. Jose Lutzky, head of the melanoma program out Mount Sinai, said that after California, Florida has the maximum incidents of melanoma and also, the cases are on rise. The American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer.

Every year, more than 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States. Amongst all types of skin cancer, melanoma is the most serious type of skin cancer. This year, it will responsible be more than 73,000 cases of skin cancer.

The MB Miami Beach Suncare can be bought in retail stores across the Beach and could also be in some markets abroad. Officials shared that a portion of each bottle sold in stores will go toward maintain the dispensers and keeping them always full.
