Mendocino County Board of Supervisors Marijuana Ad Hoc Committee to hold Town Hall Meeting on February 6
On February 6, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors marijuana ad hoc committee is going to hold a town hall meeting to give public a chance to hear a concise update and share recommendations about potential revisions of the medical marijuana cultivation ordinance code 9.31 of the county.
The state legislature passed the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act during the final hours of the 2015 legislative session to oversee the entire industry.
In response to the latest legislation, the supervisors have come up with ad hoc committee, including Supervisors John McCowen and Tom Woodhouse, for reviewing the county’s ordinance and report back to the board with recommended revisions to deal with local conditions and concerns considering the latest new laws.
The original March 1 deadline for local jurisdictions to revise or execute cultivation ordinances since then has been called wrong.
Assemblyman Jim Wood, D-Healdsburg, has thus come up with a forward Assembly Bill 21 to hit the wrong deadline. The urgency measure passed the state Senate on Monday, and was scheduled to move back to the Assembly on Tuesday for concurrence before submission to Gov. Jerry Brown, as expected.
The county’s ad hoc created an overview and timeline in December with the aim of bringing back recommendations to the entire board in March. Besides this, the ad hoc mentioned that it has been considering a recommendation to organize a 9.31 pilot program in the spring.
Woodhouse said, “This town hall meeting will give residents chance to hear directly from ad hoc committee on 9.31 revision process, and allow us to better understand thoughts and concerns of residents, stakeholders and interested parties throughout county on amendments in order to comply with new legislation”.
