Meerabai Not Out: Movie Review!

Meerabai Not Out: Movie Review! The recent entry to cinema halls was Chandrakant Kulkarni’s Meerabai Not Out. The movie is about a simple girl Meerabai (Mandira Bedi), who has an immense deep crush for cricketer Anil Kumble.

The movie, which could have been better, simply revolves around Meerabai and the camera follows her like Mary’s little lamb in the entire film.

What happens next is that she is put into an arranged marriage by her parents and that is when Ejaz Khan, who is playing a heart doctor in the movie. Meera is fully drawn towards him and so is the doc. Anupam Kher, who is playing Ejaz’s father in the movie loves modaks.

Then a twist comes in the movie. On the day of her engagement, Meerabai goes to watch a test match instead and arrives very late in the ceremony with a small but noticeable bandage on her forehead, which she gets due an injury in a stampede and unfortunately not from a Kumble sixer.

The movie for once is surrounded with emotional environment for Meera’s marriage with her doc is cancelled.

All an all, the movie could have been great and it really depends upon you whether you want to see it or not. Performances are fine with Mahesh Manjrekar as Meerabai’s brother doing a great job. Ejaz khan too has made a pleasant and impressive debut. Mandira too has done justice to the role.
