Mee Seva adds 16 more services
The government has expanded its eGovernance initiative, `Mee Seva' to include 16 new services catering to different needs of the residents in the state.
The scheme was launched by the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and it now includes 58 services. The service caters to about 70,000 citizens per day in all the districts of the state. Officials believe that the total number of services covered under the service will rise to 100 and that it will cater to about 1 lakh people everyday across the state.
"The system is intended to bring in transparency and check middlemen. An online application for certificates/documents like caste, income, registration etc., will be issued within 15 minutes. The biggest advantage is that it will save common people any where between Rs. 4,000 crore to Rs. 6,000 crore that may have gone to middlemen to get these documents in the conventional system," he said.
The government is also working on a system to pay a penalty if a certificate sought from the service centre is not given on time. The penalty system is expected to bring new level of accountability into the system.
