Mayawati Orders Dismissal of Services for nearly 4000 Police Constables

Mayawati led Uttar Pradesh government has ordered dismissal of services 3,964 additional police constables in the civil police department and Provincial Armed Constabulary. The orders for suspension of five IPS were also passed. In earlier orders, Mayawati had suspended nearly 6000 police recruits. The total number has reached 10,500 now.

As per the government statement, there were many irregularities during the recruitment of police staff during Mulayam Singh government in the state. FIRs will be registered against all members of the 10 recruitment boards who were involved in the appointment process.

As per current orders, 3664 constables posted in civil police and 300 posted in PAC has been dismissed. The effected candidates were selected from Moradabad, Sitapur, Gonda, Sonebhadra, Ghazipur, Fatehpur, Etah and Gorakhpur.

J.N. Chamber, Principal Secretary (Home) for UP informed that there may be more orders of dismissal in coming days. The government has yet to take decision on 8 pending reports while the current action is based on 10 reports evaluated by the government. Mr. Chamber said that the action has been taken against irregularities committed during appointments and all the records have been under scrutiny of Shailja Kant Mishra Committee.

The suspended officers include Ramendra Vikram Singh (DIG), Ashok Kumar (DIG), B.R. Meena (SP), Vijay Singh Meena (SP) and Neelabja Chaudhury (SP). Among the list were some officers already being suspended during previous action by the state government.

A petition was filed by group of dismissed constables at the Allahabad High court. The court will hear the petition challenging the dismissals on Wednesday.
