Many Northeast People suffer from Allergy Attacks due to ‘Pollen tsunami’

According to reports, a number of people in the northeast have been suffering from allergy attacks. Experts said that the allergy attacks are due to ‘pollen tsunami’. Usually, pollen is released by trees in early spring, but the long winter has delayed that course. Summer has finally arrived and everything has started to bloom and created pollen storm.

As per the reports, people who developed symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, fatigue and congestion could not figure out whether they are suffering from cold or seasonal allergies. Dr. Rohini Bhat, an internal medicine physician with Edward Medical Group in Lisle, said that in last few weeks, an increase has been seen in number of people suffering from seasonal allergies.

According to the physician, people who have been seeking remedies developed symptoms that are similar to a cold virus. The difference between cold and seasonal allergy is that the cold will go away after a few days, while on the other side, allergy remains for a long time and its symptoms generally are more troublesome with itchy eyes, Bhat added.

She said that the weather patterns in Northern Illinois the last few years could be blamed for horrific spring allergy season. Bhat said, “Similar to last year the bitter cold winter and instant spring warm-up several caused trees, grass, weeds and other plants to burst to life all at once and send pollen into the air. "Everything is blooming together.”

According to Bhat, pollen released by trees is breathed by an individual that causes the person’s immune system to respond to that pollen. The pollen released by the trees do not harms the body, but the immune system of a body doesn't know that and releases histamines that cause increase in mucus.
