Kalinder Mohideen Shaikh (26), a resident of Sukhapur village near Panvel has been arrested by Panvel police for stealing an ATM card and cash of his friend, Shambhu Ramvilas Pandit (33). Pandit, a Sector-7, New Panvel resident was admitted to Panacea Hospital in Panvel and his friend Shaikh went to visit him on February 17. Shaikh managed to steal his ATM card and Rs 1100 from Pandit's pocket. Later, Shaikh withdrew Rs 16,500 using Pandit's ATM card. Pandit found his card and cash missing next day and started searching for it. He registered a complaint with the Panvel police on Friday following which Shaikh was arrested. "Shaikh and Pandit were good friends and Shaikh knew the password of latter's ATM card," said an official from Panvel Police Station. Shaikh was arrested under section 379 of the IPC and is now under the custody of Magistrate.
