Makeover for the Mazda RX-8Tokyo  - The Mazda RX-8 is making its European debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September with several design modifications and a more efficient Wankel engine boosting performance and improving consumption.

In contrast to its predecessors models, the new RX-8 comes with an oversize five-point grille and oil cooling openings below the front fog lights. The 19-inch wheels come with distinct spokes that resemble the engine rotor. Interior changes include a redesigned steering wheel and seats.

The Wankel power unit has an output of 170 kW/231 hp with a maximum speed of 234 km/h and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Fuel consumption is at 9.5 litres per 100 kilometres.

It will be offered only in the Sports-Line edition starting at a price of 38,180 euros (54,832 dollars). (dpa)
