Majority expect housing prices to rise in the UK
According to a new survey, a majority of the respondents have said that they believe that the housing prices will rise in the UK in the coming months.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has said on Tuesday that 59 per cent of respondents said that they expected prices of homes to rise over the next three months, which is the highest since September 1999. The number of respondents predicting higher sales of homes in the country also rose to record high levels.
The Rics warned that the prices and rents will become more unaffordable if the supply of homes does not increase to meet demand meaningfully. It said that the number of surveyors predicting price rises compared to those predicting falls is the highest since September 1999. The survey also showed that 58 per cent of the respondents said that they recorded a rise in prices during the previous month.
The housing market has been showing strong signs of recovery throughout 2013 due to government initiatives including Help to Buy and Funding for Lending that allowed people in the UK to acquire homes.
