Lynx Could Return To Wales after 1,300 Years
There is a higher possibility that wild lynx can return back to Wales after 1,300 years if an appropriate site can be found. According to experts, reintroduction of lynx might help promote biodiversity.
Dr Paul O'Donoghue, from the Lynx UK Trust said that so far there has been no case in which lynx has attacked on a human, but there is possibility that they might attack sheep. It has been informed that Lynx don't hunt out on the open as they are selective predators.
The Eurasian lynx is a medium-sized cat that is found in Europe central Asia, and Russia. It is also known as the European lynx, the northern lynx, common lynx and the Siberian or Russian lynx. The last British lynx closely linked to the north European lynx and vanished around 700AD. It has been informed that it hunts deer and smaller species like rabbit and hare.
“The lynx is one of the most enigmatic, beautiful cats on the planet. The British countryside is dying, and lynx will bring it back to life”, said Dr Paul O'Donoghue.
It has been informed that the Lynx UK Trust would release up to 18 of the cats onto private estates in Aberdeenshire, Cumbria and Norfolk. These are not considered a danger to people because they used to stay away from humans.
Ecologists have increasingly started to understand the value of top predators for the entire ecosystem. Tony Marmont, who wishes to see lynx in Grumack Forest that he owns near Huntly, Aberdeenshire said that Lynx are going to have an extremely helpful effect on our forest ecosystems. Adding to it, he also said that an animal that got vanished due to humans should be reintroduced.
