LoC firing may have been due to some misunderstanding: IAF officer
Srinagar, May 22 : A senior Indian Air Force officer has said that cross-border firing earlier this week could have been occurred due to some misunderstanding.
"The reason for the firing is yet to be understood. Maybe it was due to some misunderstanding," Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Air Command, Air Marshal P K Barbora said.
The firing by Pakistani troops in Mendhar along the Line of Control killed an Indian soldier and forced New Delhi and the Indian Army to lodge a strong protest with Islamabad and Pakistani commanders at a flag meeting.
Air Marshal Barbora also said both India and Pakistan want to continue with the ceasefire, which came into force nearly five years ago.
"No one wants to break the ceasefire and peace and tranquility along the borders. Peace on the Line of Control is in the best interests of the two countries," he added. (ANI)
