Livescribe launches Sky Wi-Fi Smartpen that syncs with Evernote

Livescribe launches Sky Wi-Fi Smartpen that syncs with EvernoteGiving the smartpens a notable smarter edge, Livescribe has recently launched its latest wireless smartpen - dubbed the Sky Wi-Fi Smartpen - which boasts the capability of transferring the users' data to cloud services, and syncs with Evernote note-taking software which is used by over 40 million people.

The new digital pen from Livescribe can not only capture writing and record audio, but can also transfer the captured data wirelessly to either a smartphone or a tablet, or even the Evernote note-taking software on a PC.

According to the information shared by Oakland, California-based Livescribe, the new Sky WiFi Smartpen - which is largely aimed at `on the go' students and employees - is compatible with proprietary physical notebooks for preserving the users' handwritten notes and linked audio files on at least 2GB of built-in storage.

The handwritten notes and the audio files are then transferred directly to the Evernote account of the users through a WiFi connection; and are thereafter accessible on any PC, smartphone, or tablet. The target audience is on-the-go people, from executives to students.

Noting that the Sky WiFi Smartpen facilitates the users in backing up their important notes, Byron Connell - Livescribe's VP of marketing - said that the new digital pen is "like a companion to the iPad or Android tablet"; and pointed out that the launch of the new smartpen underscores that Livescribe has revamped its strategy in order to become "more tablet and cloud-centric."
