Littbarski takes coaching job in Liechtenstein

Hamburg  - Former Germany winger Pierre Littbarski was on on Tuesday appointed coach and sports director at Liechtenstein football club Vaduz.

Littbarski, 48, received a contract until 2010, Vaduz said on its website.

He succeeds Swiss Heinz Hermann at Vaduz, who play in the Swiss first division, where they are currently ranked eighth from 10 teams, and have won the Liechtenstein Cup the last 11 years.

The announcement came two weeks after Littbarski was sacked at Iran club Saipa Tehran. Littbarski has also coached in Japan at Yokohama (two stints) and Fukuoka, at Australian club Sydney and German side MSV Duisburg.

Littbarski won 73 Germany caps as a player and won the 1990 World Cup. (dpa)
