Lenovo unveils Windows 8-based IdeaCentre all-in-one PCs
On Friday, Lenovo unveiled its new lineup of its IdeaCentre all-in-one PCs that will boast touchscreens and will run the forthcoming Windows 8 operating system, which Microsoft is scheduled to launch on October 26.
The cost of Lenovo's new IdeaCentre all-in-one desktops will begin at $599, with the IdeaCentre B340 and the IdeaCentre B345 models representing the lower end of the new lineup.
Both B340 and B345 will be equipped with 21.5-inch, high-definition touch displays, and will offer a 10-point touch input - for facilitating the simultaneous use of 10 fingers on the screen - to allow the desktops to take full advantage of Windows 8 OS. Users will be able to use touch gestures for scrolling documents, surfing the Web, playing games, or tossing between photos and movies.
While the processor options for the two models include third-generation Intel Core i7 chips code-named Ivy Bridge or Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) quad-core chips code-named Trinity; the B340 model will feature a combination of an Intel Core CPU/Nvidia GPU, and the B345 will have an all-AMD based option. Both the models will hit the US markets in October, with the release of Windows 8.
In addition to these two models, Lenovo will also be bringing aboard Windows 8 to its $699-onward IdeaCentre B545 all-in-one PC which features a 23-inch touchscreen, and was launched by the company in April this year.
