Lalu Not to Celebrate Chhath in Mumbai

Railways Minister Lalu PrasadRailways Minister Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi will perform Chhath Puja in Patna not in Mumbai announced earlier this year.

Both will perform Puja at their official residence, situated in the high security zone.

"Lalu ji and Rabri Devi will celebrate Chhath puja in Patna. There is no plan to perform Chhath in Mumbai at all," said Shyam Rajak, national spokesperson of Lalu's Rashtriya Janata Dal.

In last February, Lalu defied the Maharastra Nav Nirman Samiti (MNS) and announced that "If possible, I will go to Mumbai to perform Chhath Puja."

But Lalu postponed his plans in the wake of tension that prevails in Mumbai following the attack of MNS workers on North-Indians.

Chhath is celebrated by Hindus six days after Diwali. Married women observe fasts during the course of the festival.
