Lahore police confirms five casualties in FIA building attack
Lahore, Oct. 15 : Lahore police on Thursday confirmed the death of five persons in the FIA building attack.
Talking to mediapersons outside the FIA building, which houses several government and private offices, a senior police official said the situation is under control added that 20-25 hostages had been freed
He said of the five persons killed, two were terrorists.
The identity of other three persons is yet to be ascertained.
Punjab Home Secretary Khusro Pervaiz Khan also confirmed the death of two terrorists.
This was the second terror attack on the FIA building in the last year and a half.
Then, at least 24 people, including 13 FIA officials were killed and over 200 were injured when two bombs ripped through the FIA building and an another building in March 2008
That deadly blast demolished much of the federal police headquarters, which is located in the heart Lahore, while the other hit an advertising office located several kilometers away.
Around 800 people have died since last year in suicide attacks, roadside bombings and clashes, mainly along the Afghan border in troubled northwestern Pakistan and in other major cities.
Many of the attacks have targeted the armed forces, police and security forces. (ANI)
