L&T receives order worth Rs. 15.57 Billion from APPDCL
Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India's leading engineering, technology and construction company, has received an order for the supply and erection of two 800MW supercritical steam turbine generators at Sri Damodaran Sanjeevaiah Therman Power Station at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The project is being developed by Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited (APPDCL).
This project is a first of its kind in the country for supercritical 800MW Steam Turbine Generator Island and L&T has taken a step forward in becoming a leading company in the area of Thermal Power, employing supercritical technology.
L&T-MHI Turbine Generators Private Ltd. a joint venture company setup by L&T and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Japan, is in the process of setting up a manufacturing unit in Hazira, Gujarat. This unit will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, supply erection, commissioning and performance guarantee tests of two sets of 800MW supercritical Steam Turbine Generators and Auxiliaries.
The decision taken by L&T is a sgnificant step in fulfilling its pursuit to contribute to the nation's increasing demand for power, which is a key factor for economic growth.
L&T has setup another joint venture with MHI, Japan, to manufacture supercritical boilers, which will acclaim L&T's expertise in design and engineering of power plants, manufacture of feed cycle equipment as well as construction of power plants.
