KSITM plans to revamp Citizen Call Centre

KSITM plans to revamp Citizen Call Centre Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) has plans to revamp Citizen Call Centre facility using most recent technology, director of the mission said.

Citizen call centre, which ensures quick delivery of crucial information to citizens, has become a boon even to non-residents. During January to November this year, it processed more than 6.5 lakh calls.

The facility is equipped with a primary rate interface/integrated services digital network (PRI/ISDN) with thirty lines. It has a team of highly experienced call centre executives who address queries and clear doubts about ration card, electricity connection etc.

Jayasankar Prasad, director of the KSITM, said, "The call centre is meant to clear doubts of people who wish to know the formalities for obtaining a ration card, an electricity connection, a building permit."

In other words, the centre allows the common man to obtain details of plans, schemes and policies of various departments.

Situated at Thiruvananthapuram under the direct supervision of Kerala State IT Mission, the facility was an initiative of KSITM as one of Kerala government's e-governance projects.

The Citizen's Call Centre was started as a pilot project in May 2005, with a total of nine participating departments. It works on all calendar days, including holidays, around-the-clock.
