Koda tries to skip income tax interrogation
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Nov 14 : Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda who is facing charges of money laundering and illegal investments today avoided further questioning by income tax sleuths by going to his hometown Chaibasa.
Chaibasa is about 250 kilometers from the State Capital, Ranchi, and Koda has moved there to escape further questioning by the I-T officials.
While the officials claimed that Koda had disappeared from his Ranchi residence, Koda asserted that he was in his hometown to see his ailing father.
The former chief minister received a warm welcome from his supporters at Chaibasa.
On Friday, Koda alleged that there was a threat to his life and that he was being harassed only because of his tribal identity.
"There is threat to my life. There is a conspiracy to annihilate me. I am a victim of conspiracy. I know who are doing all this. Whatever is being published in the media is baseless," said Koda just before entering Chaibasa.
"I am being harassed, as I am a tribal belonging to a poor family," he added.
I-T officials began questioning Koda soon after he was discharged from the Apollo Hospital in Ranchi. (ANI)
