Karnataka Police launches massive anti Naxal operation in Malnad
Karkala (Karnataka) Nov 13 : Karnataka Police on Friday launched a massive anti Naxal operation in the four districts of the Malnad region.
The operation led by Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Gopal Hosur involved more than 2,000 personnel of the Anti- Naxal Force (ANF), District Armed Reserve, and State Reserve Police Force.
Security forces have cordoned off over 30,000 square kilometers of dense forest, to conduct the day night operation. This is a first of a kind anti Naxal operation in the state.
Meanwhile, the state health department has deputed additional staff at health centres in these areas, to ensure proper medical care during combing operation.
All policemen in the Malnad region are trained in the using of using AK 47 rifles. Due to the operation, vehicle inspections have been intensified.
Police stations in the region have been asked to pay special attention to persons coming from other districts.
The rough terrain and incessant rains is likely to hamper this operation. (ANI)
