Kapil & I Are More Than Friends, Says Sourabhee DebbarmaFinally, India has got its first female Indian Idol in the form of Saurabhee Debbarma, who has broken a jinx of sorts after winning the show.

But the 21-year-old sensation said that she never thought she could win the popular reality show.

She also told that she took part thinking it’d be fine even if she maintained herself into the top 10 list.

An elated Sourabhee said, “I never thought I will be the winner. I always wished that people recognise my voice, but now that I am the winner, I am so very happy.”

But now, she is a superstar?

Sourabhee, who celebrated her triumph by doing what she likes best, dancing and singing with other contestants and parents till the wee hours, said, “Not really. But when I visited my home a few months back, the way people greeted me made me feel very special. It was overwhelming.”

“I am so tired, I was dancing till four am. But I can’t rest as I have to give so many interviews,” she said.

Sourabhee’s loving father was not happy with her daughter’s decision to become a singer.

But now, he is the happiest of all.

Sourabhee has decided to gift the car she’s won to her loving parents, who pray for her victory all through the show.

She said, “My father was against the idea of my becoming a singer. But after I had completed my BBA, he himself went and filled the Indian Idol participation form, and told me later that I had to participate.”

The girl, who is feeling herself on top of the world, said that she buys a gift for her sister, and share the prize money with the caring people of Tripura by contributing part of it to the CM’s Relief Fund and sponsor a school for music and dance.

At the same time, she said that the watch gifted by Sonali Bendre, is something that she won’t part with.

She also regrets that she couldn’t get to keep any of the dresses that she wore on the show.

She said, “There were such nice dresses, but I could wear them only on the show. I specially loved the black saree with the golden brocade blouse that I wore for the finale when I performed with Kailash Kher.”

When asked does she feel bad for having defeated her boyfriend, Kapil?

She said, “See, each one of us participated to be the winner – and it was me. But I wanted Kapil to win.”

On question regarding their relationship, she answered, “Kapil and I are more than friends. He is very nice and we have always been very close.”

About her future plans, she said, “I want to become a rockstar.”
