JSW Energy to start commercial ops at Rajasthan project

JSW Energy to start commercial ops at Rajasthan projectJSW Energy, part of Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group, has decided to commence commercial operation at the first unit of 135 mega watt at the Rajasthan power project.

The sources informed that the first unit of the Rs 5,000 crore project has already been synchronized by the company (JSW Energy) with national grid.

The sources further informed that JSW Group through its wholly owned arm Raj WestPower Limited, is carrying out 8X135 Mw Lignite based power project in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

The company expects to start the operations of the entire project by October 2010. The entire power will be sold to Rajasthan State Electricity Distribution companies.

In order to part finance various projects including the power plant and lignite mining projects at Barmer, JSW Energy is searching options an initial public offering of equity shares of  Rs 3,000 crores.
