Perth, Dec. 11 : Australian left-armer Mitchell Johnson has warned South Africa that the home side's pace attack will also be fast and dangerous on the bouncy WACA wicket in next week's first Test.

Johnson, who has been in brilliant form with 50 wickets in 2008 including 14 at 11 in the recent 2-0 whitewash of New Zealand, says the tourists shouldn't get too carried away with their own pace attack of Dale Steyn (60 wickets this year), Morne Morkel (37) and Makhaya Ntini (46).

"There has always been talk about the WACA wicket being back to its old self," The Age quoted Johnson, as saying.

"Throughout the state games this year, I think there has been a sign of that, so hopefully we can get a good nice, fast, bouncy wicket," he said.

"They (South Africa) have been talking up their bowlers a little bit but I think our attack is something to look forward to as well. You've got Brett Lee and Stuart Clark there, two classy bowlers. We're looking forward to it. We're going to put up a fight and I know they are as well," Johnson added.

Johnson, 27, said he wasn't concerned with former national teammate Glenn McGrath confidently predicting a 3-0 series win for Australia, who have never lost a home series to South Africa.

The Proteas haven't won a series against Australia since 1969-70 but arrive in this country with the No. 2 ranking, trailing only Australia.

South Africa are unbeaten in their past nine series. (ANI)
