JMM stakes claim to form government in Jharkhand
Ranchi, Dec 26 : Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Shibu Soren on Saturday staked claim to form a new government in Jharkhand.
Soren who met the state Governor K Shankarnarayan handed over a list of 43 legislators to him.
Jharkhand assembly has 81-members.
Earlier, Governor K. Sankaranarayanan had asked Soren to produce a list of MLAs supporting him as the BJP gave enough indications of backing his claim to form a government.
In morning, the BJP and All Jharkhand Students Union extended their support to the JMM, which won 18 seats in the recently concluded assembly poll.
In the recently concluded assembly poll created a hung assembly in the state with the Congress emerging as the single largest party by grabbing 25 seats. BJP stood second with 19 seats and its ally JD (U) managed to get only one seat. The JMM won 18 seats while independent candidates and other parties won from 18 constituencies. (ANI)
