An IBM computer achieved the first place in the practice round on a famous quiz program, 'Jeopardy!' which had two other top contestants, displaying that artificial intelligence has progressed a lot in developing the process of how humans think.

The director of IBM Research, John Kelly said that they had produced a computer system that could understand the natural human language, which otherwise is extremely hard a thing to do for a computer.

He has further added that the field of artificial intelligence would see people giving up most of their lifetimes in their efforts to try and bring developments in the areas that science inches towards.

Watson has demonstrated that it has the ability and capacity to bring development in the field of artificial intelligence.

Watson, the machine named after the legendary International Business Machines president Thomas Watson, has the purpose of displaying how much the company has computing expertise and research in the developed science and technology.

It even displays that IBM, turning a century old this year, intends to remain at the top of technology, despite companies like Google Inc and Apple Inc coming up as the industry's popular heads.
