Japan's Oriental Land may build Disney facility in South-East Asia
Tokyo - The operator of Tokyo Disneyland unveiled its intention to expand operations to South-East Asia on the occasion of its 25th anniversary celebration on Tuesday, Japanese media reported.
Toshio Kagami, the chairman of Oriental Land Company, operator of the Tokyo theme park, expressed the company's intention to build a Disney facility in South-East Asia, but stopped short of revealing any details, according to Kyodo News Agency.
The number of visitors to Tokyo Disneyland exceeded 200 million since its opening on April 15, 1983 as the world's third Disney theme park after the ones in California and Florida.
Tokyo Disneyland, which is located in Urayasu City, Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo, had another theme park, DisneySea, added in its proximity in 2001.
The two theme parks had received more than 436 million visitors by the end of fiscal 2007.
