Jane Fonda Reappears On Broadway After Four Decades
Oscar-winning actress, activist, author and exercise guru - Jane Fonda is scheduled to return to Broadway in 2009, after a 46-year hiatus, to perform in '33 Variations', a play written and directed by Moises Kaufman, who tells of present-day musicologist, Katherine Brandt, who tries to discover the root of Beethoven's obsessive fascination with trivial waltz music.
Fonda, 70, is excited and can't wait to get back on stage, 40-some years after her Broadway debut in a 1960 play 'There Was a Little Girl', which won her a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured actress. Fonda who also two best actress Academy Awards in 1972 for 'Klute' and in 1979 for 'Coming Home', made her last Broadway appearance in the 1963 drama 'Strange Interlude', and is widely known for her roles in such films as 'On Golden Pond', 'Julia', 'Barbarella', and 'Barefoot in the Park'.
