IPL3 goes HD way with Sun Direct
The direct-to-home (DTH) player Sun Direct has made a formal announcement that it will be telecasting the upcoming Indian Premiere League's (IPL) third season High Definition format on SET MAX.
The second largest DTH player has partnered with Set Max for this. This will be the first time in India that their will be a broadcast of a sporting event happening on TV in HD format. HD technology is a superior technology that enhances viewer experience five times compared to usual Television. The IPL matches will start from 12th March 2010.
Interestingly, the telecast of IPL matches in HD format will not carry any commercials thus offering viewers a continuous feed of the matches more like a stadium experience. The sound quality will be Dolby Digital. Multi Screen Media's CEO Jit Singh said that they are proud to be associated with Sun Direct for the IPL's HD broadcast.
Sun Direct is the country's only HD TV player. This is the first time that the DTH player will be making an advertisement free broadcast.
As far as HD technology goes, Sun Direct currently provides 5 channels in HD format: National Geographic Sun Tv HD Service, Colors HD, Discovery World HD and one Tamil / Telugu movie service.
