Investigation on BMC ex-chief Phatak

Jairaj-Phatak-BMCOn Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has completed its investigation at the houses of senior IAS officer and former BMC Commissioner Jairaj Phatak in three different cities relating to the Adarsh Housing Scam.

The CBI teams have detained his houses in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune today for investigation. They did this after getting the sanction letter from the Centre to prosecute Phatak. Mr Jairaj Phatak is a 1978 batch IAS officer.

On 29th January an FIR was given by the agency in the scam. Phatak was the former commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. His name was present in the list of people awaiting sanction for prosecution. This was because he was a joint secretary rank officer so the agency needs to take permission from the Centre. There are 103 members who owned the apartments in Adarsh Society in Mumbai's up-market Colaba area. And Phatak's son Kanishka is one of them.

A senior CBI official has stated that, they have got the sanction to accuse him yesterday after having the investigation at Pathak’s residences in Mumbai, Pune and his office at Delhi.
