Instagram to release Android app soon

Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app will soon be available for the devices running on the Android platform, according to the founder of the company.

Kevin Systrom has showed a glimpse of the upcoming version of the app at the SXSW 2012. The new Android version of the app is currently being tested in a private beta. The unavailability of the app on Android platform had restricted photographers using the Anroid phones to participate in Instagram's social photography.

Instagram was named the honor of being Apple's iPhone app of the year for 2011 and attracted a community of smartphone photographers from around the world. Android phones would offer a different user experience than iPhones on the device. Android smartphones have either three or four navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen while iPhone has a single home button and different navigation performed

Google's Android platform has emerged as the most dominant platform in the world and several users might be interested in joining the popular community of photographers through the app.

Instagram announced that it has more than 27 million users from around the world and indicated that photo sharing app will come to Android "really soon."
