Instagram gets geotagged with new ‘Photo Map’ feature
In what is more or less a `fun' addition to Instagram, the popular photo-sharing app has recently got geotagged with a new location-centric `Photo map' feature, which puts all the users' photos on a map to tell others where they are as soon as they post the pictures.
The new Photo Map feature has been added to Instagram - which is being acquired by Facebook for $1 billion - via the free 3.0 update which has brought on a `Photo Map' button to the users' profile pages. The update is now available for iOS and Android, and is themed around a faster and more engaging browsing experience.
The first press of the `Photo Map' button in Instagram 3.0 prompts the users to select the pictures which they want to get mapped. The de-selection of the photos the location of which the users do not want to reveal will result in the display of the remaining photos - which will be stacked location-wise - on a world map.
Thereafter, the pictures of the users will automatically be added to the map, enabling their friends to browse them by location as well as time or tag.
Revealing the eventually all photos taken using the service will be geotagged, Instagram said about the `Photo Map' feature: "We've introduced a new and unique way to browse your photos and others' photos on a map, which means you're no longer constrained to browsing through page after page of photos."
