Inflation at 10.55%, thanks to high fuel pricesIn the month of June inflation stood at 10.55 per cent. And the reason behind this was the high fuel prices.

Looking at the figures, it is feared by many experts that RBI will increase its key interest rates in the upcoming monetary policy review.

It is also feared that the wholesale price-based inflation will go up because of the same reason and also a change in the price policy related to petroleum. As understood well, the main focus of the center at present is to control the double digit inflation.

For the period of June, the fuel price increase by 9 per cent in kerosene, while LPG was up by 3 per cent and petrol by 2 per cent. Diesel too went up by 1 per cent.

When asked by the reporters finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said, "The June inflation figures were expected because there had been the impact of the decision which was taken to relate the prices of petrol products to market prices."

Because of the hike, petrol went up by Rs3.5 a litre, LPG by Rs. 35 a cylinder, diesel by Rs2 a litre and kerosene by Rs. 3 a litre.
