Indian Stock Market Closes Flat on Wednesday; M&M in FocusIndian stock market closed flat after benchmark BSE Sensex touched an intraday high of 17,726. NSE Nifty closed at 5338. European Markets opened negative and this led to decline in Indian stocks during the end of the trading session.

FTSE was down by 0.5%, CAC 40 was down by 0.62 per cent at 3431 while DAX was down by 46 points at 6921. Asian Markets were mixed with Nikkei 225 gained 0.88% while Straits Times down by 0.51%. Hang Seng ended the day flat.

Among Indian stocks, Reliance closed higher by 0.89%. Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra went up by 3.68 per cent to close the trading session at Rs 722. The stock went up on high volumes and touched intraday high of Rs 728. Bajaj Finserv gained 3.07 per cent, Wockhardt was up by 6.4 per cent and BPCL gained 3.09%. Among other gainers were MMTC, Tata Motors, Wipro and Infosys.

TCS, ONGC, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, GAIL, Cairn India, Nestle, DLF, Lupin, Reliance Power, Idea Cellular and Bank of India declined. Bharti Airtel declined 6.6 per cent. The stock touched its 52-week low today.

US markets closed positive on Tuesday. Nasdaq and S&P closed third day in positive. S&P closed above 1400 level while Nasdaq was above 3000 mark.
