Indian Rupee Weakens By 16 Paise At 46.76 Vs US CurrencyIndian currency declined for the second successive day on Friday by 16 paise to end the week at 46.76 against the US currency on fresh purchases for the greenback by importers considering subdued trend in equity rates.

Traders at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) stated that the rupee started the day on a strong note by four paise at 46.56 as compared to 46.60, the previous day's close, and then it fluctuated in a broad range between 46.44 and 46.80 in intra day trade.

The Indian unit had resumed higher on dollar selling by banking institutions on account of overnight drop in the New York market after data showed US jobless claims ascended and pending home sales fell down.

In the meantime, six-month forward premium of the dollar was recorded at 3.43/45 (3.45/47) per cent and one-year premium was at 2.82/84 (2.85/87) per cent.

The domestic unit ended against Euro at 58.62/64 (57.72/74) per unit, Pound sterling at 71.05/07 (70.10/12) per unit and Yen at 53.38/40 (53.12/14) per 100 units. (With Inputs from Agencies)
