Indian Markets open strong on Friday; NSE Nifty gains 50 points
Indian Stock markets opened positive on Friday. The markets were trading strong in the first half hour of trade with NSE Nifty at 5046 (up by 46 points). NSE Nifty touched an intraday high of 5053 and a low of 4999.
BSE Sensex was up by 150 points in early trading session. US Markets closed up on Thursday. Dow Jones Industrial Average Index was up by 85 points at 12,848. Nasdaq Composite was up by nearly 1% at 2428. S&P 500 index was up by 0.64% at 1388.
Among major gainers were Essar Oil, IDEA Cellular, HCL Technologies, Reliance Communications, GNFC and MTNL. Essar Oil was trading strong on Thursday as well. The stock was trading with a gain of 3.3% at 10.28 a.m. IST. IDEA Cellular announced great results yesterday and the future guidance was strong as well.
Among major losers were Orchid Chemicals, Tata Power and Torrent Power.
Technology Major Wipro’s Chairman Azim Premji has acquired 1% stake in Koutons Retail. Telecom giant Bharti may bid for MTN Group South Africa.
