Indian companies generate opportunities in the US, surveyAccording to a new survey, India companies operating in the US have contributed to the generation of employment opportunities and have also helped boost innovation and education in the country.

The new 2012 India Business Forum (IBF) survey, which was released by the Confederation of Indian industry (CII), shows that the Indian companies are having a significant economic and social impact on the location where they operate in the country.

The survey included 36 Indian companies from various sectors including education, financial services, healthcare pharmaceuticals and life sciences, information technology, manufacturing, media and telecommunications. The companies in the survey operate in 40 states and the District of Columbia and a majority comprising 70 per cent have increased the number of employees since 2005.

Leading Indian IT sector outsourcers are aiming to get an image get over in the US market as the public sentiment is being turned against general outsourcing by various segments for the upcoming US presidential elections.

Wipro, Infosys and others want to be perceived not as a cheaper alternative for performing jobs but as responsible US listed firms that are creating jobs and investing in the future of the country.

Officials in Indian firms say that they wish to become part of the US job market and attract young talent in the country. It is claimed that India’s $100 billion IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) industry supports more than 107,000 jobs in the US. Out of the this number, about a third are Americans working for Indian firms.
