India Headed For Better e-Governance
Recently, the set up of the Sun-IIT Delhi Centre of Excellence in e-governance at the IIT Delhi campus was jointly announced by the Indian wing of Sun Microsystems and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Sun and IIT had signed a MoU (Memorandum of understanding) back in September 2006, and this centre is the outcome of the same. The aim of the Centre of e-Governance is to conduct research in the related areas of e-governance and it also holds the vision to educate the entities that broadly include senior government and defense officials. The creation of better social infrastructure the ultimate motive of the system and it also aims to provide enhanced security and better quality of life for Indian citizens.
Other than this, the latest technology innovations and solutions to the government will also be showcased by the Center. The center will also evaluate the impact of technology on the government and society and formulate the appropriate IT policy papers.
It is being expected by the IIT that this venture will help develop a stable technology platform for the e-governance projects in the country in the near future.
