India for artificial limb centre in lanka
India has offered to set up an artificial limb centre for the internally displaced persons staying in the camps in the northern district of Vavuniya.
The camps currently house between 2.4 lakh and 2.5 lakh Tamil refugees most of whom were repeatedly displaced during the Lankan government’s war with the LTTE. While exact estimates are not available with the government, thousands among them are in need of artificial limbs.
