Increase in objectionable activities along Pakistan border: BSF chief
Srinagar, Dec 13 : Despite a truce in force between India and Pakistan along the international border, Pakistan has built as many as 19 new fortified concrete bunkers and 39 observation towers along the border till November this year.
New Delhi is concerned about the issue, as according to reports, these bunkers are not defensive bunkers to fend of the Taliban, as claimed by Islamabad.
According to reports, the information about these new bunkers has been shared with Union Home Secretary G K Pillai, who visited the border areas of Suchetgarh and Abdullian in Jammu region on Saturday (December 12), accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Kuldeep Khoda and other senior (Border Security Force) BSF officers.
Pakistan has built the bunkers in areas like in Attari and Samba sectors in Jammu as per the information received.
This issue has been raised by the BSF in the past, with the Director General of the Border Security Force saying in July this year that there has been an increase in objectionable activities across the border.
UK Bansal, DG, BSF had said, "There has been an increase in objectionable activities across the international border with Pakistan, whose forces have constructed concrete bunkers on their side and have also established an objectionable observation force." (ANI)
