‘Improved’ Cowan says ‘consistent big scores’ not too far

Ed-CowanSydney, Jan 2 : Australia opener Ed Cowan has claimed he is a better player right now than what he was when he earned his first baggy green a year ago, and believes it is just matter of time when he starts scoring big runs consistently.

Cowan had scored four consecutive centuries in 2011 to knock down the door for Test selection, but has averaged a modest 34.10 in 12 Tests since his debut in last summer''s Boxing Day Test, News. com. au reports The 30-year-old said he''s wasted opportunities to add to the maiden Test century he scored in Brisbane against South Africa in November.

Looking back at his first year in the job, Cowan believes the Test caper is harder than it looks but he feels he''s learning from mistakes. Cowan said he think sometimes the game rolls with you a little bit and luck plays its part, and added that none of his dismissals at the international level indicated towards any technical flaw.

The Tasmanian star said that it doesn''t feel like as if he doesn''t know where his next run is coming from, and it''s just a question of getting his head down for a bit longer. (ANI)
